Parents ask.
We answer.
Chess at School, fees, make-up sessions and the team championships. Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp FM Ryan Harper or FM Adrian Winter-Atwell.
Chess at School
Every student, at every level, including complete newcomers. We start with the fundamentals and move stronger players on to competitive play.
One hour, once a week, on your school's chess day (Monday to Friday).
We try our best to cover 10 sessions a term. Holidays and school events sometimes cancel a day, and we can't always fit in a make-up. If a coach misses a session, we will always organise a make-up, even with a different coach.
We teach in over 40 schools across Trinidad and Tobago. Call FM Ryan Harper (868-730-4019) or FM Adrian Winter-Atwell (868-475-7184) to check, or to start a club at your school.
Fees & payment
TT$300 a term with the workbook, or TT$250 without it (each valid for 3 months). Chess with FM Ryan Harper is TT$305 a term.
Pay the fee on the form collected at school, by online banking (our preference) or in cash at school. The account is Jumbo Chess Ltd at Republic Bank; full details are on the school form.
Yes. Any coach on our team can teach one-on-one at TT$150 per 1-hour session. You arrange it directly with the coach.
Championships
Teams of four players play boards 1 to 4 in a Swiss tournament (10 minutes + 2 seconds a move). Schools can bring several teams. Registration is TT$100 per player.
Between 8:30 and 9:00 am to check in and collect board bands. Round one starts promptly at 10:00; teams not checked in by 9:40 miss the first round.
Glass gold medals and a trophy for the winning team, silver for 2nd, bronze for 3rd to 5th, gold medals for the top performers on boards 1–4 and the top all-girls team, and participation medals for all.
